For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. Proverbs 1:29-31
There is a principle taught in scripture that is evidenced in nature. The principle is this, whatsoever a man soweth, that is what he will reap.
We all understand this principle without any spiritual insight. If a man plants a seed from a tomato, he will reap tomatoes. If he plants a squash seed, then the resulting fruit will be squash. Now what would be totally out of character and unnatural would be to plant a seed from an apple and a banana tree comes up and oranges is the fruit that is brought forth. It ain’t gonna happen.
There is a spiritual principle that is also applicable. The word of God tells us “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:7-8
Now the scripture clearly teaches us that every man shall give an account before God one day. For the believer, this accounting will be a the ‘judgement seat of Christ’ [ref. 2 Corinthians 5:10] and for the unbeliever it will be the ‘great white throne judgement’. [ref. Revelation 20:11-15] But the above mentioned scriptures have the connotation of ‘accountability in this life’. While the heart is still beating and there is breath in the lungs.
There are many examples of this in God’s word, but for reference I would like for us to consider Jezebel. Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab who reigned over Israel (874-853 B.C.).
Both Ahab and Jezebel were wicked. They had absolutely no reverence for God and His word. In other words “they hated knowledge, and did not chose the fear of the LORD. They would none of His counsel and despised all of His reproof”.
One of the many evidences of this is found in 1 Kings chapter 21. Ahab wanted a parcel of ground that donned a beautiful and fruitful vineyard that belonged to a man name Naboth. When Naboth would not succumb to Ahab’s selfish desire, Jezebel not only had Naboth killed, but also his son’s that Ahab might lay hold to the land.
Later on in this same portion of God’s word, God sent His prophet, Elijah, to tell Ahab that God is aware of their evil and wicked deed, and that God will hold them accountable…. “And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found [thee]: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD. Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked [me] to anger, and made Israel to sin. And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.” 1 Kings 21:20-24
Rest assured, every word that was spoken against Ahab, Jezebel and their sons, came to pass. [ref. 1 Kings 21- 2 Kings 10] If one will carefully study the chronological sequence that followed the initial promise to Ahab, one will find that it took 17 years for the promises of God to come to fruition.
Two things we must not miss from this post.
- Whatever we sow, we shall reap. No ifs, ands, or buts. “And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement”.
- Don’t try to figure out God’s time table in bringing the seed to fruit. Remember my friend, ‘the wheel of God grinds slow, but grinds exceedingly fine’.

Thank you for sharing such a well timed word, and an encouraging word as well. As long as we have life in our bodies, we can change our “harvest”……whether we realise it or not, every christian is a “farmer”, and our daily choices, actions and attitudes are our “seeds”, and whether it be good or bad our “crops” will grow. And on the farm too, the “chickens” will come home to roost……….I thank the Lord that because of His incredible mercy, when my crop is not what it should be, I can rip it out, repent and “reseed” my “field” and start the crop again, so as to have the harvest that will please the Lord. God bless you Brother Malachi for speaking God’s truth and reminding us to “mind the field” because our God will not be mocked and reaping what we have sown no matter if it be good or bad serves as a sobering reminder to live right before the Lord. Maranatha!
“I thank the Lord that because of His incredible mercy, when my crop is not what it should be, I can rip it out, repent and “reseed” my “field” and start the crop again, so as to have the harvest that will please the Lord.” Comment by Teresa
Yes Teresa, God is merciful and very longsuffering, to that I am so thankful. I have had to claim the promise of God, “if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”, through Christ. Praise God.
I must confess that the post for Saturday, June 14th, came not in thought of the believer, but King Solomon was addressing the fool who has rejected wisdom and sought to satisy his own selfish desires by immersing himself in the wicked way of the world with absolutely no reverence or fear of God.
‘For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. ‘ Proverbs 1:29-31
I have been discussing abominable activities practiced by some on Word Press and instead of a broken and contrite spirit; there is a calloused and unrepentant spirit and disdain for God’s word and any individual that stands upon its truth. It was those that my heart was burdened for that wrought the post.
God is good Teresa and if we will drink in His word and hunger and thirst for His righteousness, we shall be filled. Thanks for reading and commenting. Please stop back anytime.
God bless

In regards to what you said…”I have been discussing abominable activities practiced by some on Word Press and instead of a broken & contrite spirit; there is a calloused & unrepentant spirit & disdain for God’s Word & any individual that stands upon its truth. It was those that my heart was burdened for that wrought the post.”
I don’t know the what & where on Word Press that you’re referring to, but I see more & more each day the current “church” walking away from the Lord & His precious Word to chase after a “feelings” type experience, tossing sound doctrine to the wayside, discernment, the Word and exchanging prayerful study of the Word of God to “soak” until “the spirit” begins to “manifest” itself, then anything goes, supposedly in the name of God.And those of us who stand firmly on the Word of God, discernment & preach Christ & Him crucified are labeled “Pharisees” and “legalists”. My heart & spirit grieve so for these sheep who, in my opinion, are not following the true Sheperd, but a different one who is leading them into deception & destruction. My prayer daily is our God will reveal the truth to them, and they will repent and turn back to the LORD their God, be it through any of us who will open our mouths to speak truth to them, or the conviction of the precious Holy Spirit Himself.
It’s my impression that those of us who stand on the Word of God, Jesus & sound, biblical doctrine will become a problem that this “new breed” will be very threatened by, and therefore a line will be drawn in the sand, so to speak, and we will be made to choose: their way or the Lord’s way. After escaping this current deception by the grace of our Lord, I’m standing with Jesus Christ, His Holy Word and anything that doesn’t line up with that I reject emphatically. Even if it costs me my very life, I will lay it down for the truth of God’s Word and His glorious Son who shed His blood for me. God bless you malachi for sounding the alarm, not compromising, not being a lover of men more than God and for speaking the truth…..and for letting me express my thoughts on your site. You are in my prayers brother, keep running the race and Maranatha!!
