discerning the signs of the time

Mat 16:1  The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
Mat 16:2  He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
Mat 16:3  And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Mat 16:4  A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

The very Son of God stood before the religious folk of His day and they could not perceive who He was, though He had wrought such mighty works. I fear the same spiritual blindness is about the religious folk of this day.

We learn from history that after the preaching of Jonah, came the prophecy of Nahum. Some 148 years after Nineveh’s repentance God meted out His judgment upon a wicked nation/people.

America the beautiful?

Yesterday while attending the Sunday worship service and recognizing  Memorial Day, we sang the 1904 rendition of ‘America The Beautiful’. While we were singing, the Spirit posed this question to me… what is “beautiful about America”, at least from God’s perspective?

God exhorted Moses in the record of Deuteronomy to consider the people (nation) that experiences the blessing of God and then  in turn  forgets Him. Prayerfully consider below.

Deu 8:1  All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
Deu 8:2  And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Deu 8:3  And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Deu 8:4  Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
Deu 8:5  Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

Deu 8:19  And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Deu 8:20  As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.

Imagine a people (nation) that experiences the mercies and grace of God, only to forget and turn away…

It happened with the great city of Nineveh. In 760BC, the prophet Jonah was sent to Nineveh to predict God’s judgment upon a wicked and vile nation. By the grace of God, Nineveh repented of her sin in sackcloth and ashes and was spared the pending judgment.

Approximately 148 years later Nahum the Elkoshite, was sent to Nineveh with the burden from the LORD. They had returned to their wickedness and now was considered of the LORD to have no healing in their bruise 3:19… in the common day vernacular, the disease in their body was so graphic that it can not be cured. It is like going to the doctor and him/her telling you there is nothing we can do for you… you are going to die!

Nah 3:1  Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;
Nah 3:2  The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
Nah 3:3  The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
Nah 3:4  Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

Nah 3:14  Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
Nah 3:15  There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
Nah 3:16  Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.
Nah 3:17  Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
Nah 3:18  Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.
Nah 3:19  There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

One can only wonder if that is where America is in this day we are living?

There is a reason for prayer. Consider  Daniel’s Prayer (Daniel Chapter 9:3-19)….

Dan 9:3  And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
Dan 9:4  And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
Dan 9:5  We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

In 2014- October11, I published a post about the Coexist Movement. This spiritual compromising initiative is both very dangerous and is gaining ground throughout mainline denominations across America.

There is another movement, for the most part less prevalent, but just as dangerous, and maybe the more, due to the subtleness of its doctrine, in light of the scripture. Along the spiritual spectrum it is 180° in the opposite direction of Coexist. It’s followers are often the product of institutionalized religion.

Allow me to share a personal testimony…

Last summer I was out mowing my front yard when a small bus load of youth, accompanied by as many adults, unloaded at the end of the street and started to visit homes door to door in my neighborhood.

As I was approached by one of the adult men in the group, I shut down the engine on my lawn trimmer and begun a cordial discussion with the visiting gentleman.

He started of the conversation identifying the local church they were associated with and wanted to talk to me about Jesus. I shared my unadulterated conversion experience, whereby 30-year ago Christ had reached down and brought me out of a miry pit of sin I was immersed in and planted my feet firmly at the The Cross of Calvary, and for the past 20-years I had lay-pastored a small community church in our local town. For about 15-20 minutes we conversed in Christian circles and agreed in society’s need for Christ in this evil day.

To some what of my surprise, the kind brother requested he leave a pamphlet with me to which I agreed. I must admit after sharing my testimony, I felt that the tract would be of better use if shared with a wayward neighbor down the street or in another neighborhood.

I continued the grooming of my front yard, but made it a point of priority to keep the tract to read at a later time.

Once I had cleaned up and retired for the evening, I got out my copy of the scripture and had remembered the tract that was handed out by the fine looking gentleman passing through the neighborhood earlier that day. As I read the tract it became pretty apparent to me, that the object they were promoting was not Jesus Christ, but their church or it’s denomination.

Now I understood why the visitor felt the need to leave me the tract. The fact that I was not co- joined with their denomination, I guess the redemptive work the Lord had done in me 30-year ago was something less than the “New Testament Salvation”.

Now this is not all that uncommon. There are some churches that feel that their teaching (doctrine) is the only teaching that lines up with the bible. That their denominational religious rites seem to give them the spiritual skinny that places its adherents closer in fellowship with God than other ‘protestant denominations’. These particulars can be the cloths we wear of don’t wear. The music we listen to or don’t listen to, or what we eat or drink, or how we worship, how much we tithe, etc…  In fact they have a regimented list of scripture that seemingly validates their pious biblical stance, thereby thwarting other denominational positions.

In this churchianity day we are living, we would do well to consider what Christ told the religious folk of His day,

Mat. 23:15  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. [2]

Luk. 16:14  And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
Luk. 16:15  And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. [3] 

We must guard our self against the same error that permeated the religious folk in the day of Jesus. They were guilty of propagating the do’s and don’ts of the scripture and the teaching of the same and overlooked the fact that they had transgressed the commandments of God by the tradition of their fathers.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the heart. [4]

We would all do well to heed this admonition… “there is a way that seemeth right to a man, but end thereof are the ways of death”. [5]

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear what the spirit sayeth!

The Naked Communist is a 1958 book by an ex FBI agent, United States author political theorist Cleon Skousen.

The author posits and seeks to describe a geopolitical strategy by which the Marxist–Leninist Soviet Union was attempting to overcome and control all the governments of the world that were not members of the Communist bloc. At the time that the book was published, during the Cold War, fear of communism was common among people in non-communist nations.

The list of alleged communist goals contained in the book was read into the Congressional Record by U.S. Congressman Albert S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida, on January 10, 1963.

President Ronald Reagan said of the book: "No one is better qualified to discuss the threat to this nation from communism. You will be alarmed, you will be informed and you’ll be glad you heard him (W. Cleon Skousen)." [1]

List of Communist goals

U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.

Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

Do away with all loyalty oaths.

Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

Gain control of all student newspapers.

Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

Control art critics and directors of art museums.

Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.

Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity, masturbation and easy divorce.

Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use "united force" to solve economic, political or social problems.

Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

Internationalize the Panama Canal.

Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

1962… a year that will live in infamy

 

In two landmark decisions, Engel v. Vitale (1962) and Abington School District v. Schempp (1963), the US Supreme Court established what is now the current prohibition on state-sponsored prayer in schools.

Following the catastrophe of September 11, 2001 an increasing number of California public school mandated students must attend an intensive three-week course on Islam. The purpose of the plan was to insure America would not have negative connotations about Islam.

As children return to school this week, following the Christmas break, 7th graders in a growing number of public schools, who are not permitted to wear a cross or speak the name of Jesus, will be required to attend an intensive three week course on Islam; a course in which students are mandated to learn the tenets of Islam, study the important figures of the faith, wear a robe, adopt a Muslim name and stage their own Jihad.
In Byron, California, parents were outraged when students came home with their handouts and were told what was being taught. Their complaints to the school principal not only were ignored, but officials of this public school, funded by tax dollars, essentially fluffed them off.
The public schools in California so stealthily slipped this course into the 7th grade curriculum that even another 7th grade teacher, Elizabeth Christina Lemings, was totally in the dark that this was being taught until her son, Joseph, who is a 7th grader in the same school where she teaches, brought home the handouts.
“We could never teach Christianity like this,” Lemings said to ANS during an on-site interview. “We can’t even mention the name of Jesus in the public schools, but over there…,” she pointed to the building next to hers, “they teach Islam as the true religion, and students are taught about Islam and how to pray to Allah.” [2]

On October 22, 2014, John Wood discovered that his daughter was being forced to repeat religious tenets of Islam as a part of her World History class assignment. She was required to write how the prophet Muhammad was visited by the angel Gabriel and preached that there is only one true god, who is Allah. The assignment made her write that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah and that the Quran is holy text.

The assignment required her to affirm that “Allah is the same god that is worshipped in Christianity and Judaism” and that the “Quran is the word of Allah revealed to Mohammad in the same way that Jews and Christians believe the Torah and the Gospels were revealed to Moses and the New Testament writers.” The assignment also forced young women such as the Woods’ daughter, to fill in the following sentences: “Men are the managers of the affairs of women” and “Righteous women are therefore obedient.” [3]

When John Wood petitioned La Plata High School in Maryland over the Islamic indoctrination of their 11th-grade daughter in her World History class, he was met with steadfast opposition. Wood’s conversation with a La Plata vice principal “indicated that his daughter, a high school junior with college hopes, would receive zeros on her assignments on Islam if she did not complete them.”  Yes, his daughter has received a failing grade in her World History Class.

Ron Wagner, a Florida father, said his son’s world history book has gone too far with a lesson that teaches Muhammad is the messenger of God.

One part of the book, for instance, reads: “There is no god, but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God,” he said, quoting from his son’s Lyman High School history book, WFTV reported.

“Students were instructed to recite this prayer as the first Pillar of Islam, off of the board at the teacher’s instruction,” Mr. Wagner said. “For it to be mandatory and part of the curriculum and in the textbooks, didn’t seem right.”

The chapter in the history book is called the “Rise of Islam,” and includes text of the faith’s prayers and scriptures, right from the Koran, WFTV reported.

Mr. Wagner also complained that the first 100 pages of the of the religious-based chapters that deal with Judaism and Christianity are missing — and the school district explains that omission by saying the defect, which impacted 68 books, is due to a manufacturer mistake, WFTV reported.

The school also said that the “Pillars of Islam are benchmarks in the state curriculum” and must be taught, WFTV reported. [4]

In the article I reference some quotes by Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Gaza’s Jihadia Salafiya Islamic outreach movement, which seeks to make secular Muslims more religious, and calls for holy war against the pope. He said Christian leaders such as Benedict are “afraid” because they realize Islam is Allah’s favorite religion and they are going to hell unless they convert. The Gaza preacher declared the “green flag of Muhammad” would soon be raised over the Vatican.

The Gaza preacher said the pope and the Christian world are “panicking” because they realize “who is winning”.

“See how Islam is progressing and gaining more and more members and see the moral crisis in the West. See today the support of Islam in the Arab and Muslim world and how Islam is gaining more and more adherents in Europe and even in the United States and you understand that Islam is the future and that this dwarf pope was wrong. But I can sympathize with him. He is frustrated because he understands where things are heading.”

The ‘green flag of Muhammad’ is not atop the Vatican, but is beginning to wave proudly over the public school systems of the Untied States of America.

As the ‘green flag of Muhammad’ continues to gain preeminence in America, the sound of Rachel’s weeping and lamentations of great mourning will only grow louder.

History of Sanctity of Human Life Sunday-

President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation on January 16, 1984, designating Sunday, Jan 22, 1984 as National Sanctity of Human Life Day noting that it was the 11th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, in which, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that guaranteed women access to abortion. President Reagan was a strong pro-life advocate who said that in Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court, "Struck down our laws protecting the lives of unborn children."

Reagan issued the proclamation annually thereafter, designating Sanctity of Human Life Day to be the third Sunday in January, which represents the closest Sunday to the original January 22 date. His successor, George H. W. Bush, continued the annual proclamation throughout his presidency. Bush’s successor, Bill Clinton, discontinued the practice throughout his eight years in office, but Bush’s son and Clinton’s successor, George W. Bush, resumed the proclamation, and did so every year of his presidency. [2]

 

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children and 6 adult staff members. Prior to driving to the school, Lanza shot and killed his mother at their Newtown home. As first responders arrived at the scene, Lanza committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. [3]

A couple of things to consider…

1.) the events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary school was an egregious event. Most would say that goes without saying! The reason I want to make this perfectly clear is that oft times when someone tells us the truth, we do not hear the truth, but our perceptions interpret what we want to hear. There is an old adage “we see things not as they are but as we are”.

2.) evil is alive and well, not only in America, but all over the world and for the most part society is ignorant to the true source of the problem.

A good example of this can be seen in an interview the day after  the shooting between Megyn Kelly, with FOX News and Dr. Keith Ablow, a renown psychiatrist and FOX News contributor. During the course of the interview Dr. Ablow became incensed  concerning  comments made by the Governor Dan Malloy of Connecticut when he said, “evil visited our community today”. Ablow’s response was…

“STOP saying ‘evil visited us yesterday,’ NO, MENTAL ILLNESS visited us yesterday!” 

I wonder if Dr. Ablow considers ALL acts of “evil’ as being the results of “mental illness”?

Now there are many like Dr. Ablow, that think it is more palatable to the human intellect to substitute the ‘acts of evil’ with ‘mental illness’. From the human perspective, mental illness requires one look no further than the flesh, and as long as we can see it and touch it, we can understand it. I contend the acts of evil run much deeper than mental illness, but just for the record, I am not psychiatrist.

The first recorded murder in the Bible was that of Cain slaying his brother Able. I am thinking if Dr. Ablow would have lived in that day, he would have assessed this evil act, an would have surmised that Cain was mentally ill. My contention is the act of murder had nothing to do with mental illness, rather the content of Cain’s heart. It was wicked and the evil proceeded forthwith.

Dr. Ablow would probably have stood on the same ‘mental illness’ platform to define the demonic force in the man from Gadara that Jesus encountered Luke 8:26-39. Here in lies the crux of the problem, human intellect often gives place to mental illness where the real culprit is a demonic influence. The problem is, society thinks we can control mental illness as long as we give the individual enough of the right medication to settle the beast within.

Weeks following the events of what took place at Sandy Hook Elementary, facilitated debates from the most educated pundits of our society, (government leaders, doctors, lawyers and clergy from every religion) and not one, even remotely mentioned the demonic influence involved in the egregious act.

Proverbs 16:4 says “The Lord hath made all things for himself; yea, even the wicked for the day of evil”.

We can rest assured that nothing that happens, takes God by surprise, whether is is good or evil, even the things such as the killing of innocent children.

There is a prophecy in the word of God by the mouth of His prophet Jeremiah 31:15 in which he prophesies concerning a voice of lamentation in Ramah, it is the voice of Rachel weeping for her children. Ramah was a city just North of Jerusalem which was used as an assembly point for those Jews that were taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. The prophecy came by the mouth of Jeremiah 9 years before the last deportation. Rachel was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin was seen as weeping over the exiles.

This prophecy has a dual prophetic association. It is also associated with the slaughter of all the male children that were 2 years and younger at the decree of Herod when the Christ Child was born… Matthew 2. We are not told the specific number of children that were slaughtered but the massacre did not take God by surprise. Almost 600 years before Herod’s decree, God spoke it through His prophet Jeremiah. The voice of mother’s all across Ramah were weeping for their children that were being slaughtered at the hand of King Herod’s decree.

Now if God is aware of these type of forthcoming event and could stop it, but does not intervene, one can only surmise that God allows it for a reason.

The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting that occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine, an unincorporated area of Jefferson County in the state of Colorado.

The perpetrators, two senior students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered a total of 12 students and one teacher. They injured 21 additional people, with three others being injured while attempting to escape the school. The pair then committed suicide. [4]

One of the 12 students that were killed that day was a girl name Rachel Joy Scott. On May 27, 1999, before the Congressional sub-committee on crime, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel read this poem that he had written after his daughters death.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You’ve stripped away our heritage,
You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,

If we tally the three instances that have been mentioned in this post, it includes 180 souls which were both children and teachers. The comment from the Washington Post echoes the public out cry of not only what took place in Islamabad, Pakistan, but Sandy Hook and Columbine alike, while there remains a deafening silence for the innocent souls that are being slaughtered in their mother’s womb.

I Wonder if Dr. Ablow sees the abortion industry as the by-product of  ‘mental illness’ or even ‘evil’ at all?

the circle of passion… understanding the radical elements of Islam and Christianity

synonyms: crucifixion, suffering, agony, martyrdom [1]

According to David Barrett et al, editors of the "World Christian Encyclopedia: A comparative survey of churches and religions – AD 30 to 2200," there are 19 major world religions which are subdivided into a total of 270 large religious groups, and many smaller ones. [2]

The circle of passion above is an illustration of how I see the religions in all of the world.The blue portion of the circle, which makeup all the known religions, comprise Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslims, Chinese and Catholics, Orthodox and Protestant Christianity, etc…

The blue portion of the graphic representing the ‘world of religion’ is a picture of what the Coexist Foundation and the Chrislam Movement is all about. [3]  Their  ultimate goal is for all the religions of the world to coexist in peace and harmony. Dwelling in a warm, cozy community without conflict, while joining hands and singing a round of kumbaya my lord, kumbaya. For the most part the vast majority of the world religions have no problem with this concept, except for a couple of radical segment of Islam and Christianity.

A careful examination of the circle of passion reveals two very small slivers which are located at the extreme edges. Even though they are part of the larger circle, they are distinct from the larger, vast majority of religionist. These slivers would be considered outside the norm of their respective religion, and labeled as radical or extremist. It is hard to understand what the actual percentage of the smaller slivers are in relationship to the majority, but we can surmise they are miniscule in comparison to the majority.

The religionist that are within these smaller slivers are not only smaller in number, but possess a different conviction than those in the larger area of the circle. The conviction of the patrons in the slivers are so strong and determined they are willing to die for these  convictions. In order to understand these radical elements we must understand some foundational teachings of Islam and Christianity.

Islam:

Shahid or Shaheed (Arabic: شهيد,‎ šahīd, plural: شُهَدَاء šuhadāʾ ) originates from the Qur’anic Arabic word meaning "witness" and is also used to denote a "martyr." It is used as an honorific for Muslims who have died fulfilling a religious commandment, especially those who die wielding jihad, or historically in the military expansion of Islam.

The word shahid in Arabic means "witness". Its development closely parallels that of Greek marturos "witness", the origin of the term martyr. Shahid occurs frequently in the Quran in the generic sense "witness", but only once in the sense "martyr; one who dies deliberately for his faith"; this latter sense becomes standardized in the hadiths. ^[4]

Christianity:

The radical patrons in the two slivers are not only located 180  degrees of each other, their conviction are just as diametrically opposed. Radical Islam lives to kill. Taking innocent life is no problem for this violent segment of Islam and if their own death is required during the Shahid, they willingly die. Those dwelling in the radical Christianity sliver do not take innocent life. They are generally the innocent lives that are taken by the violent, Islamic extremist, yet they are willing to die for the cause of the gospel and the testimony of their Christ.

Now every patron of Islam does not have the conviction to “die wielding jihad or for the expansion of Islam” nor every Christian to be “reproached for the name of Christ”. The blue portion of the circle of passion is reserved for them to coexist in peace, but those that inhabit the slivers are fully committed… even to death!

Though the inhabitants of the slivers have similar convictions and commitment, their end  is quite different. Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Iraq: Isis cruelty graphically revealed in gay man’s savage rooftop execution in Mosul

The Islamic State [IS] group has released photographs that allegedly show the final moments before a man is thrown from the roof of a building in the Iraqi city of Mosul as punishment for being gay.

The photos were uploaded to Justpaste.it by jihadists and circulated on social media sites by IS-affiliated accounts.

The photo shows a man about to be pushed to his death by two IS militants and another shows that a large crowd had gathered to watch below.

A caption on one of the photographs explains that the man had committed a crime of ‘the people of Lot’, meaning that he is alleged to have committed an act of sodomy, and was ‘thrown from a high place’ as punishment. [1]

As the large crowd (Muslims) gathered below to watch the brutal execution, there does not appear, at least openly, to be any opposition to the judgment meted out by ISIS against the homosexual.

Below is a YouTube video of protestors in the Palm Springs, CA that gathered back in 2008 to protest the unanimous approval of Prop-8 initiative.

Proposition 8 was a ballot initiative, and a California state constitutional amendment, passed in the November 2008 elections, which says that "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

The video is from a local news report covering the protest that took place at the Palm Springs City Hall. Wonder if the protestors in the video would have been as vocal in the Iraqi city of Mosul as they are against the Christian grand-mother in the USA?

Duke’s Downsized Call to Prayer Draws Hundreds in Support of School’s Muslims

Hundreds of students of varying religions gathered outside of the chapel on Duke University’s campus Friday, , to take part in an Islamic call to prayer — in support of the school’s Muslim population, which had been offered then denied the opportunity to broadcast the call from the chapel’s bell tower.

The adhan was heard over a small amplifier on Friday, but Duke had announced Tuesday that the three minute chant would resonate from the chapel’s bell tower each Friday before the Duke Muslim Students Association met for their weekly prayers in the chapel’s basement, as they have been doing for years.

"This opportunity represents a larger commitment to religious pluralism that is at the heart of Duke’s mission," Christy Lohr Sapp, the chapel’s associate dean for religious life, had said in an earlier statement. In an article in the News & Observer of Raleigh, Lorr Sapp elaborated that recent attacks in Paris and Pakistan had shed a light on Muslims that wasn’t accurate, and Duke championed the more public call to prayer to celebrate a Muslim community that is "peaceful and prayerful." Muslim leaders from across America will gather in Texas this weekend to hold the annual Stand With the Prophet in Honor and Respect conference, a weekend forum that is being billed as a “movement to defend Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message,” according to event information.

The Saturday event, which seeks to combat “Islamophobes in America” who have turned the Islamic Prophet Muhammad “into an object of hate,” according to organizers, comes just a week after radicalized Islamists in France killed 17 people.

“This is not an event. It is the beginning of a movement,” organizers write on their website, which blames Americans for giving Islam a bad name. “A movement to defend Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message.”

Evangelist Franklin Graham was particularly opposed to the call the prayer idea, taking to Twitter and Facebook to discourage alumni and donors from supporting the school until Duke reversed their decision.

"As Christianity is being excluded from the public square and followers of Islam are raping, butchering, and beheading Christians, Jews, and anyone who doesn’t submit to their Sharia Islamic law, Duke is promoting this in the name of religious pluralism," Graham said. [6]

While Islam is being promoted as a ‘religion of peace’ across the west, in the shadow of this past weeks rampage, the homosexual community’s silence is deafening. When Sharia Islamic Law comes to America, it will be interesting to see how the two ‘spirits’ get along.

I Met a Man…

There is an old saying that seems to be quite prevalent in a man… “we see things not as they are, but as we are”.

We see evidence of this in the life of King David when the prophet Nathan was sent of God with the parable of the rich man that had taken the poor man’s one ewe lamb for his wayfaring friend.

David was ready to ‘kill’ him as just recompense, while completely oblivious to what he had done to Uriah the Hittite.

In this post from the rural lowegian we find a man that had a heart that was tender toward the leading of God’s Spirit… a man like King David. A man after God’s own heart.

Sometimes our actions do not reveal the desires of our heart until the Spirit intervenes.

The Rural Iowegian

I once met a man who said he was thirsty so I handed him a bottle of water, but he would not drink.  He then said he was hungry so I handed him my lunch, but he would not eat.  Finally he said he was lost so I asked him where he was going, but he would not speak.

What I did not understand was he was thirsty for the word, he hungered for the spirit, and had lost his way from the path of righteousness. So I laid down the mirror and picked up my Bible to quench my thirst, quash my hunger, and find my way again; the man was me.
